Earring clip and brooch pin series | 2011

Copper, galvanised copper wire, silver, steel wire, fabric, enamel and brass.

The starting point for this series was two mass manufactured jewellery findings, an earring chip and a brooch pin. These findings were deconstructed to make new forms and to explore how form and function influence each other. The forms was made out of different materials, in different sizes and placed in a new context.

The jewellery finding is what attaches the jewellery piece to the body and thus giving the object its function and definition.

This series questions the boundaries of functionality and wearability by revealing the binary opposites function and decoration, front and back, original and copy, etc.
